With more than 35 years of counseling experience, I help adults, teens, couples, and families work through difficult life challenges and create meaningful, lasting change.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable individuals who feel stuck — repeating patterns that no longer work, carrying emotional burdens from the past, or facing challenges that feel overwhelming. They want real change, not just insight. My role is to help you understand what is truly driving the problem, resolve what needs healing, and build practical skills you can rely on for the rest of your life.
My style is practical, structured, and collaborative. I am supportive and encouraging, while also direct and purposeful in helping you move forward. Sessions are focused on understanding root causes, building usable skills, and creating measurable progress. Clients often describe our work as grounded, efficient, and genuinely helpful — not just insightful, but actionable.
I also believe that even painful emotions and behaviors often develop for a reason — they once helped you cope, adapt, or protect yourself. When we understand their purpose instead of simply trying to eliminate them, change becomes more natural and lasting. We work with your mind and nervous system — not against them — to create healthier, more effective ways of responding.
Therapy is not about removing life's challenges. It is about becoming more confident and capable in meeting them — with clarity, steadiness, and hope.
My Resume
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) licensed in Colorado. My education includes an MBA in General Business Management from Colorado State University, a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas, and a BS in Psychology from Brigham Young University.
My advanced training includes Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I have developed particular strength helping people break persistent patterns of anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm; process and resolve trauma; improve communication and rebuild trust in relationships; navigate major life transitions; and reduce destructive habits and replace them with stable, healthier patterns.

Hi, my name is Krista Haws and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about me. First off, I want to commend you for taking the difficult step of considering therapy. I also want to emphasize when you're looking for a therapist, find someone you connect deeply with! No technique matters as much as the connection you have with your therapist! I truly love and admire my clients and my focus is to inform and guide my clients in the ways they want or need, in a nonjudgmental, supportive way. There is something very sacred about being allowed to sit one on one with someone in their pain and suffering; thank you for trusting me. I work with individual adults, couples, and older teenagers.
I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California, which is a wonderfully diverse area and I moved to the Denver, CO area in 2017. I received my Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology in 2005 from San Jose State University. I have been working in the mental health field since 2001 and licensed since 2009. I have experience with sexual addiction, betrayal trauma, depressive disorders, anxiety issues, big and little traumas, PTSD, ADHD, adjustment problems, family dynamics/interpersonal problems, various health issues and the effect on mental health.
As for my therapeutic perspective, I believe unresolved trauma, which leads to disconnection with your core self, significant others, community, your higher power, peers, etc combined with ineffective coping skills cause the majority of our pain and suffering. My belief is that by figuring out and changing our attachment patterns, changing those and resolving traumas, especially by incorporating somatic processing techniques, we can help increase life satisfaction and decrease pain.
My Resume
As for formal training, I am trained in EMDR, AASAT for sexual addiction recovery, Betrayal trauma certified, CBT, Complex PTSD and trauma certified, IFS, EFT and Gottman methods. I also have a certificate in mental health and nutrition as well as the aging brain.
I use a number of techniques depending on my client's needs using evidenced based practices including Neuropsychology, somatic processing, journaling, nutrition, exercise and walking sessions, yoga, Bibliotherapy, podcasts and more.

I work with adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or weighed down by depression, anxiety, or past experiences that still linger. Therapy with me is collaborative and compassionate, with a focus on helping you feel understood and supported as we make sense of what you've been through.
I use EMDR, along with mindfulness and self-compassion, to help clients gently process difficult experiences and build greater emotional steadiness. I aim to create a space that feels safe, affirming, and human — where you don't have to have everything figured out to begin healing.
My Resume
I received my undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in Psychology, then earned my Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. I am licensed in the State of Colorado as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and have been practicing for over 10 years.

I'm known for my direct, warm style and my ability to translate complex therapy concepts into simple, practical steps — all with one central focus: how do we have better relationships?
My work is about learning to see yourself and others clearly. For real change and healing to happen, clarity is essential. You can't fix what you can't see. I help individuals and couples turn that clarity into action, especially when addiction, betrayal, trauma, or relational disconnection has taken the wheel.
I mix current research with straightforward, compassionate guidance to meet clients where they're at and guide them forward. I bring humor and honesty to all my work, and clients appreciate the practical takeaways that support lasting change and healthier relationships.
My Resume
I hold a Master's in Social Work and am licensed in Colorado as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and trained in PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy) at Level 1. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman Method couples therapy.
I have received specialized training through Dr. Skinner and the Addo network for betrayal trauma and sexual addiction. I work with adults, adolescents, and couples.

"Family dysfunction rolls down from generation to generation, like a fire in the woods, taking down everything in its path until one person has the courage to turn and face the flames. That person brings peace to their ancestors and spares the children that follow." - Terry Real
My purpose as a therapist is to stand beside you and support you as you face the flames in your life. I believe that you have the courage to break cycles and move forward in your own way. I am the person who will come alongside you, I can follow your lead and be the motivator when needed, I can accept you where you are while challenging you and keeping the progress going.
I believe that our whole beings are affected by trauma and other life experiences. Therefore, I take a holistic approach to healing, and use creative as well as evidence-based methods to assist in the process replacing messages and tools that are outdated with new healthier and more effective ones.
I believe in the power of connection. I use a variety of techniques that help to increase the connection in your relationships. I am trained in Gottman Method practices, Family Systems, Mindfulness, Emotional Focused Therapy, and Relational Life Training. I also use the power of nature when possible and use a Strength-Based approach.

I want to start by acknowledging that it's not easy to admit you're stuck. Or feel broken. Or caught in patterns that don't seem to change no matter how hard you try. If you're here, it means you're willing to confront what most people avoid — and that willingness is where real change begins.
I don't see my clients as broken. I see people who are trying — often very hard — and who need better tools, clearer insight, and a secure place to work through what's underneath the surface. It's important you find a therapist you trust. Someone who understands you, can challenge you without shaming you, and is steady enough to sit with the hard things. I have dedicated my life to being that kind of therapist. And if we're not the right fit, I'll help you find someone who is — because you deserve that.
I've personally wrestled with OCD, relationship struggles, compulsive habits, and faith crisis. Those experiences don't replace clinical training — but they give me a genuine understanding of how disorienting and exhausting these seasons can be. And I know that meaningful change is possible.
I work with teenagers, adults, and couples. Much of my work centers on relationships — conflict in a marriage, rebuilding trust after betrayal, breaking repetitive arguments, or learning how to ask for what you need without it turning into defensiveness. I am Gottman Level 2 trained and specialize in helping couples identify the negative cycles they get stuck in and replace them with more secure, connected patterns. I don't believe one partner is "the problem." I believe patterns are the problem — and patterns can be changed.
I'm also ERP-trained and specialize in OCD treatment, including relationship-focused OCD (ROCD). ERP is the gold standard for OCD treatment and allows us to break cycles of chronic doubt, rumination, intrusive thoughts, and reassurance-seeking so you can live according to your values instead of your anxiety.
Therapy with me is both structured and collaborative. I bring practical tools and research-backed interventions, but also presence, steadiness, and directness. I will validate you — and I will challenge you when it's needed. Growth requires both safety and stretch.
My Resume
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in couples therapy, OCD, and individual work with teenagers and adults. I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level II) and ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) for OCD treatment, including relationship-focused OCD (ROCD). Additional areas of focus include betrayal trauma, faith transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression.
