Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • How does therapy work?

Typically our therapists meet with clients once a week for a 50-minute session. Together, we set goals for what you want to accomplish in treatment and desired time-frame for treatment. Similar to personal training or music lessons, we will work with you and give you tools to succeed. You will need to practice these skills between our sessions together, if you want to see optimal results.

  • How many sessions will it take?

Because every person is different and have varying degrees of distress and motivation, this is a difficult question to answer. Some people only need 1-2 sessions to feel better, others that may be seeking deeper change and growth choose to attend much longer. Typically, our clients average between 8 and 20 sessions to find and sustain the changes they are seeking.

  • How much do sessions cost?

Sessions are $130-$185 per 50 minute session. This includes the time your therapist will use between session for assessment, consultation, research, and documentation.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Funding your sessions is an important part of receiving quality mental health services.  When a therapist accepts insurance as payment, they become bound under restrictive regulations.  Insurance companies can mandate and restrict the number of sessions a client can be seen.  Insurance companies also require an official diagnosis to be assigned which can become a permanent part of a client's health record that can be accessed by future employers, schools, and other insurance carriers...this can potentially produce negative and unknown consequences for clients.  In an effort to provide the best services possible, Thrive Relational Recovery does not accept Insurance.

While Thrive Relational Recovery does not accept insurance, we do provide clients with a “superbill” to submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement or to be applied to deductibles.

  • Should I go to couples counseling alone if my partner doesn't want to attend?

We have seen many relationships transform when only one person is willing to work on themselves. Often, this motivates the other partner to want the same changes for themselves, so if your partner is firm about not attending, then yes, consider the benefits of professional support and counseling for yourself.

  • Do you work with children?

Yes, our therapists are trained in working with children and adolescents and we value working with the family as a unit in order to ensure the best results for the child. Please be aware that we do not work with child custody disputes.

  • Do I need to be a client to join a group?

Absolutely not. Groups are organized and designed to offer support, healing and hope to all that participate...client or not!

  • How much does group participation cost?

Groups are a monthly subscription fee of $200-$250, depending on the specific group. Fees are charged and the beginning of each month and cover 4 weekly meetings which are 1-1.5 hours long each week.

  • How long do groups last?

Most group curriculum is designed to run for three months. However, those who desire to participate longer may do so.

  • How large are groups?

Groups size will typically vary from 8-12 members, depending on the specific group and curriculum.

  • Do you accept Medicaid (Health First Colorado)?

We regret that we are not permitted to see individuals who are an “eligible beneficiary” of Medicaid services, as we are not in their network.  Third party payment for services is also not accepted, per Medicaid restrictions.  Please refer to your Medicaid benefits for more information and a list of therapists within Medicaid's network.

  • Can I be seen for therapy if I live out of the state of Colorado?

We regret that we can only work with clients who reside within the state of Colorado, where we are licenced.  This includes remote video sessions.
